About the Department

In an increasingly competitive business environment – where national borders are of less concern – INDIA has a pressing need for dynamic & versatile) business leaders. These business leaders must be at par with knowledge & expertise to deal effectively with rapid and far-pacing changes, including the rapid development of remove technology which is fueling global business. Faculty of Management Studies develops business administration graduates with the knowledge and analytical skills needed to take effective charge of the new economy.

The MBA program of the Faculty of Management Studies was incepted in the year 2003 and continues to be reckoned as the first accredited prograSm in Central India and in the top rankings in the Chhattisgarh region. The intake increased from 60 to 120 in the year 2007.Further the intake has been increased from 120 to 180.

The pedagogy is a holistic mixture of case studies-based teaching, theoretical concepts, experiential learning via industrial visits and live projects, and practical exposure with various immersion programs and outbound activities, all of which emphasize the application of theoretical training to the practical problems managers that face today and are most likely to face in the future.

Programme Specific Outcome (PSOs) for U.G. Programme

  • Devise and assimilate business administration through the application of multifunctional comprehension of Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Production and Systems.
  • Demonstrate managerial skills and generate business opportunities in adverse circumstances embedded with values and social commitment in global perspective in a given organizational context.

Programme Outcome (POs) for U.G. Programme

  • Business Environment and Domain Knowledge (BEDK): Economic, legal and social environment of Indian business. Graduates are able to improve their awareness sand knowledge about functioning of local and global business environment and society. This helps in recognizing the functioning of businesses, identifying potential business opportunities, evolvement of business enterprises and exploring the entrepreneurial opportunity.
  • Critical thinking, Business Analysis, Problem Solving and Innovative Solutions (CBPI):Competencies in quantitative and qualitative techniques. Graduates are expected to develop skills on analysing the business data, application of relevant analysis, and problem solving in other functional areas such as marketing, business strategy and human resources.
  • Global Exposure and Cross-Cultural Understanding (GECCU): Demonstrate a global outlook with the ability to identify aspects of the global business and Cross Cultural Understanding.
  • Social Responsiveness and Ethics (SRE): Developing responsiveness to contextual social issues / problems and exploring solutions, understanding business ethics and resolving ethical dilemmas. Graduates are expected to identify the contemporary social problems, exploring the opportunities for social entrepreneurship, designing business solutions and demonstrate ethical standards in organizational decision making. Demonstrate awareness of ethical issues and can distinguish ethical and unethical behaviors.
  • Effective Communication (EC): Usage of various forms of business communication, supported by effective use of appropriate technology, logical reasoning, articulation of ideas. Graduates are expected to develop effective oral and written communication especially in business applications, with the use of appropriate technology (business presentations, digital communication, social network platforms and so on).
  • Leadership and Teamwork (LT): Understanding leadership roles at various levels of the organization and leading teams. Graduates are expected to collaborate and lead teams across organizational boundaries and demonstrate leadership qualities, maximize the usage of diverse skills of team members in the related context.

FMS, believes that the wealth any institute can treasure are the collection of books. The department has a modern library which contains more than 3800 books in various specializations finance, marketing, Human Resource, Production and operation, Systems, Hospital and health care. Section has a separate E-library where the students can easily open access to e-books, e-journals & e-magazine.




Computer Lab

To incubate a highly proficient business leader, it becomes necessary that the leader is aware and equipped with all the advancements in the field of technology. Considering the need of the hour, Faculty of Management Studies has a well furnished computer lab which consists of state of art personal-computing workstations. A number of specialty software on statistical analysis programs through which students can learn practical skills of SPSS and focus on research and management concepts. Instructors can help students to explore their theoretical classroom teaching to practical teaching.

Audio/Visual Hall

The department believes not just in imparting theoretical knowledge via books of renowned authors, but also imparting experiential learning in its students. The pedagogy comprises of various workshops, webinars and guest lectures by renowned academicians and industry veterans. To accommodate these sessions, the department has a well furnished audio visual hall with seating capacity of 200 students. Audio-visual hall is used for national and international conferences, webinars and presentations are conducted through which students can easily explore their skilled knowledge in practice.

Co-Curricular Activities

According to the Faculty of Management Studies, extracurricular activities and education both contribute to a student's overall personality development. For the overall development of a student, the curriculum should not only be based on single criteria. The holistic growth of a student is just not based on classroom teaching but also supplemented with co-curricular activities. Co-curricular activities teach students a lot of values. Additionally, it is a powerful tool for instilling in disciplinary, social, artistic, and cultural values among students.

Industrial Visit/Training

The industrial visit is regarded as one of the strategic teaching techniques. The fundamental justification for this is that it enables students to learn concepts practically through engagement, working procedures, and job practices. Additionally, it provides exposure from an academic standpoint. The primary goal of Faculty of management studies aims to expose pupils to the realities of the workplace. Additionally, students get a great chance to learn everything about business operations which help them in their future endeavors.

Fountainhead

Faculty of management studies organizes fountainhead which helps students to develop and enhance their existing abilities as well as helps them to discover new ones by joining student association. Through this students can easily obtain emotional intelligence to build new relationships and understand the finest methods of communicating with both small and large groups.Also, it enhances the overall educational experiences of students through development, exposure, and participation in social, cultural, multicultural, intellectual, recreational, traditional, community service, and campus governance programs.

These association helps students in organising the events along with their team members, conducts periodic meetings, encourage the student members to bring-up their classmates skills apart from curriculum activities. Helps in conducting periodical, inter and intra Class/Department events like Group Discussion, Quiz, Seminar (Both General and Technical topics), Communication Skills events, mock Interview which are the integral part of this association.
